What is Proration?

Proration ensures that you only pay for what you need. If you decide to renew your license early, the price you pay will be adjusted based on the unused portion of your current subscription. This means you’re not losing any value from your existing plan when you choose to renew ahead of time.

How Does Proration Work?

Our proration method follows the Freemius system:

• License Extension: When you renew early, your license is extended by either 30 or 365 days, depending on your selected billing cycle.
• Proration Calculation: The proration discount is calculated using the unused time in your current billing cycle. This is determined by the formula: remaining_period = (1 - number_of_days_past_from_the_old_plan_last_payment / number_of_days_in_past_billing_cycle). Your proration discount is then max(0, remaining_period x old_plan_last_payment).
• Billing Cycle Adjustment: Unlike traditional proration systems that preserve the original renewal date, our system resets the billing date to the time of your early renewal. This approach is simpler for our customers to understand and ensures you receive the full value of your new plan immediately.
